Create complex analyses and presentations by adding various widgets.
1. Overview
The Dashboard combines multiple visualizations — charts, spreadsheets, maps, text, and images — into a multi-page canvas. Use it to build analysis workspaces or presentation-quality layouts.
2. Getting Started
Open Dashboard from the Start Menu.
In the Home ribbon tab, click widget buttons to add widgets to the page (e.g., Chart, Spreadsheet).
Click a widget to select it. Drag to move; drag edges to resize.
Each page has a configurable grid layout — adjust the number of rows and columns with the spinner controls in the ribbon.
A flexible multi-visualization widget with several display modes:
Bar chart, Histogram, Pie chart
Map (world, US states, US counties, CBSA regions)
Scatterplot, Table
Control widgets (checkboxes, radio buttons)
Text
Rich text with HTML formatting.
Image
Embed an image from disk.
You can also add widgets by typing an expression in the expression bar (Ctrl+E to focus).
4. Page Management
A dashboard can have multiple pages, similar to slides in a presentation. Use the page thumbnails to navigate between pages. Each page has its own grid dimensions and widget layout.
5. Widget Operations
Select — click a widget to select it.
Move — drag a selected widget to a new position on the grid.
Resize — drag the edges of a selected widget.
Rename — Ctrl+R to rename the selected widget.
Delete — Ctrl+Backspace or Ctrl+Delete.
Duplicate — use the ribbon button to duplicate a widget.
Cycle — Ctrl+K (next) and Ctrl+J (previous) to cycle between widgets.
6. Widget Linking
Enable the Sync widgets checkbox to link widgets together. When widgets are synced, selecting an item in one widget updates the others to show related data. This is useful for building interactive dashboards where, for example, clicking a row in a table filters a chart.
The Sync ribbon tab provides detailed control over synchronization settings.
7. Display Options
The ribbon provides toggles for:
Navigation panel — show/hide the page thumbnail sidebar.
Page margins — show/hide margins around pages.
Widget borders — show/hide borders around widgets.
Widget title bars — show/hide (Ctrl+Shift+T).
Page numbers — show/hide (for printing).
Full screen — Ctrl+Shift+F to hide ribbon, sidebar, and toolbars.
